what worked in the end was running it via the command prompt

I've downloaded the game, but it's telling me to insert the DVD

did you download the full package (videos etc)?
i just clicked the 'rapid' download
after that, you shouldn't need the disc anymore
so i gotta uninstall it and reinstall it?
