The scale is small because I have to be sure that the sector fits in the bounds limit of the game (-8192 to 8191, and 100 in SM64 is equivalent to 1 in XXL), and it's really small, it would be hard to fit an entire level with all its sectors without any change in SM64's collision code
Oh, I see, in the romhack version, this was hacked for big levels.
Actually, Kaze even managed to create a grid that dynamically loads chunks around yours.
We can go very very far in this recreation, but for now only as far as the PC port edits allow it.
