I heard the original Toontown only had a handful of species. Some private servers have more, e.g. Corporate Clash has bats (my toon is one), deer and raccoons, actually AFAIK it has the most species. "wtf, deer with paws?" Well, that's Toontown for you, they didn't make hooves. Also coloured eyes have to be purchased with the game currency (or taken for free if it's your first time altering the toon's appearance after creation).

I guess they had good reasons for not giving them separate fingers back in early 2000's. If they had to be added now they'd probably need extra bones and adjusted animations, otherwise it would look off too
