It's indeed sad that in Tintin, Astérix and The Smurfs, probably the 3 biggest french comics, women are very poorly represented.

Tintin has basically just the Castafiore and her assistant Irma, an opera singer. The Smurfs have just the Smurfette. Astérix has the most thankfully, with Cleopatra, and multiple gaulish wives.

The Asterix entry that gives the most action to women is the Big Fight movie, where the final battle is conducted by the village wives only. There's also The Secret Weapon comic. Women started to be considered for more roles in the media in the 80's, and Tintin ended before that.

Good point Feder. Also yeah even the last Asterix movie has a young girl part of the main cast and is just an amazingly well written character.
