Hey there, yeah, it is safe. The mods come with modified .exe because they have been patched so modern windows versions can run them, or to remove some limits of the original game. Why does the AntiVirus detect it? Because the original file was signed and modifying the file broke the signature. Maybe there is also some code in the patches that are false-positives, so they are detected as malicious but it's actualy safe...

For many years people have been using the mods and patches without issues, there is absolutely no risk

If you are using windows 11, you will need a patch too.

Unzip and put into the game directory. You see, windows 11 breaks compatibility for an older sound api, which the game is using.

yeah you can't use the default windows unzipper, you'll need something like 7zip or winrar
