Start area is great till the door part After the door when you rotate and show the arcs and the giant tunnel its very empty and feels like its unfinished Ceiling needs more decoration and probably you could make a little space for fenced windows which separate ceiling and walls in some areas to make it feel much more lighter What else you could do is get rid of the arc and leave the columns only since there is ceiling on top of the structure already the god rays are great but they are a bit too aggressive and are too much, i would delete one set of god rays at the end of the hallway since it looks weird that you have 2 god rays from right side and then one more extra set of got rays right in front of the window which is physically not possible. When we get into vc next time i can show you much in detail if you have any questions.
pegperegogaucho
Sure, I can get rid of the block on the ceilings and some of the god rays
pegperegogaucho
I don't think it looks unfinished at all, it is just kept simple like the rest of the game, also beware that there will be crates here and a fireplace so later on it will look less empty
mr.rubinshtein
yeah maybe i am a little bit getting too much into detail there guess try it out with crates i would recommend tho to add some decorative elements at least such as bushes green stuff to just a little bit break the clean walls a bit
overfloyd
Honestly I think it's beautiful, maybe even a bit too much considering how other transitions are done in the game (see Greece or Helvetia in the town part)
overfloyd
I agree on the god rays part, maybe you could show some outside area
mr.rubinshtein
i think we shouldn't limit ourselves its rome after all and i think it would make sense to make transitions look presentable to match romes energy
mr.rubinshtein
after all you are entering villains lair sort of place
overfloyd
Yeah I agree
overfloyd
I was just doing the comparison between other transitions in other regions

Here is a demonstration of Asterix carrying the torch to the next sector

pegperegogaucho
I tested it, and it is not possible to skip the fireplace
pegperegogaucho
I believe we will have to also reduce the time the torch is on fire since you can skip the previous fireplaces on the stairs
pegperegogaucho
As OverFloyd said, transitions should be kept relatively simple because they are just there to bridge the main, important areas and the goal is also to stay as faithful as possible
mr.rubinshtein
yea makes sense to me
mr.rubinshtein
i was more trying to imply on the fact that its rome and we could be a bit generous there
mr.rubinshtein
in any case i do like how things are coming together with these transitions
pegperegogaucho
pegperegogaucho
This is the current layout. You can skip fireplace #1 and light #2 directly, or light #1 and skip #2 if you're fast
pegperegogaucho
In any case, you cannot skip fireplace #3 to light fireplace #4 (in the transition)
