Those enemies will only spawn after you have passed the lock there and they don't have any purporse except to act as a "secret" if you go back here. You might remember that in the last sector of Rome the normal romans have shield as well and 9hp, that is because the developers (accidentally?) put the stats of the strong optios on them. Here I put those same stats on the tall legionnaires so the trifecta is complete :)

In theory, by standing on an upper platform (the ramp of the stairs), you could hit a turtoise without being hit. I damaged one until it moved away.

What do you mean? You should only be able to kill the one formation above the pressure plate with the romans...

I didn't really try hard as there are 6 on the same platform. It's quite hard not to get hit by one of them.

I was only able to skip the second-to-last fireplace after the death pit, guarded by pushers and lions.
