to record back and restore some of those complex 4 hour playlists
Stuff in orange is in need of replacement, because they are in a weird situation
Playing back on a CRT is perfectly fine
But through my converter, those segments confuse it and switch the signal constantly from PAL to SECAM back and forth. I can hold the region switch button down, but this will result in black and white flashes.
Sometimes I can dodge the flashes by tweaking vertical stabilisation on the VCR remote, but that will decrease the video quality. At least, it can allow for an uninterrupted sound recording.
Most of the dates written up here are figured out by clues found inside the video footage itself, and some of my mother's memories, like what days of the week would the Zorro episodes would air.
Ah, it gets better over time.
( keep in mind the raw tape is a bit better than this, I'm recording at 3mb/s 50FPS, which means there's not any blocking, but complex tape noise is smudged down )
I see Tex Avery in your list. I had a tape with some of his cartoons, I must've watched it a lot and probably mistreated it because the colours got very saturated and a decent chunk of one short got completely lost before the tape would be digitised.
Mhm, some of the only stuff on my tapes that was still in english with subtitles, despite some of these cartoons actually existing in french
Got enough clues in this tape to say that we recorded Britons on Sunday December 31st 2000
The tape also contains Asterix Versus Caesar (1985), and was most likely recorded on December 24th 2001.
Yeah, nearly all my tapes got their content around xmas time...
Anyone still wants to theorise what kind of Asterix games we may get from under Microids in the future?
Idk tbh, i would like to see sth more similar to original games, than to another xxl 3 copy
https://www.microids.com/microids-and-albert-rene-editions-sign-a-publishing-agreement-for-multiple-asterix-video-games/
We got XXXL already, so now it's 2 left.
When they said *This agreement spanning over the next 5 years will invite players of all ages to experience various video game genres*, I frankly didn't expect an essentially XXL3 sequel.
They have multiple 2D/2.5D platformers, party and kart games, so I kinda predict those genres more. Though not sure how they could pull off karts if they decided to go with that.
I'd been rambling about Asterix games into the abyss on Tumblr, and now that I'm here my mind has already shifted focus to something else
Oh, that STA screenshot reminds me about the content they scrapped, like the barrel-throwing Romans and the mysterious blue bar in the HUD
But yeah, they made that 3D platformer about Smurfs, showing they could technically do the same with Asterix, but we got another XXL3 even with its mixed reception.
At least XXXL doesn't run like a potato and doesn't have horrendous mazes or stealth.
I guess if we want another game like the ELB ones anytime soon we'd need an enthusiast to dive into Unity or UE 🌚
