In this image the far rocks aren't from the level geometry but the background layer. It's simply syncronized with the main area.
XXL's Remaster, if it had the time and ressources could have used that technique to remove the fog and let you see a lowerpoly ( or samepoly tbh) copy of the level geometry as background. these backgrounds are scaled down to tiny sizes, allowing the vertices to make good use of the floating point precision, and avoid Z-tearing in the distance.
Tbh a lot could be done to embelish XXL with extra background elements replacing the fog. Oh and non-background geometry features to *hide* any visible LVL geometry not meant to be seen from a few sectors away.
sorry, i kinda get carried away.
Not sure it's the right channel though :/
Anyway, old XXL2 skips were fun, but there's probably still a lot to discover... its turn will wait tho, as our eyes are focused on cleaning up the XXL1 route with our new eyes and tools
Not having to spend more than 2 minutes from opening the game to getting to a new spot to save for testing is what truly separates us from the past era
Which tool do I need for that?
He prolly is talking about cheat tool (where u can make save states and other staff)
But its not published/posted on the server yet cause its not finished
I see! Sounds cool, especially save stating!
There is a looooot more in it, you will see, we can give u the one of the newest version, so you can test some things
But take note that it's better to make copy of the game, and use the cheat tool on that copy, cause some crashes can still happen by it
It would probably make my life a lot easier, so I would love to get a version of that ^^
If the dude above has access to such a tool, he will defeinitely make that sub hour
He will practice every dash in every tunnel
And will make a 1:00:00... lol
