Yes I've tried this and came close to pulling it off. You need to hit the dude fast enough not to touch the water, which is hard enough, but the main problem is the lions. If they hit you, you're done.

(Rome wasn't actually a 1:50, the timer was all messed up since it finished the last split when entering Rome -- and it kept finishing it even when I undid the split manually)
