Is there anything I need to do to select widescreen resolutions? Won't work for me (or I'm doing something wrong)

Once you patched the game, you should be able to choose a widescreen resolution in the menue.

The camera distance is the distance between you and the character you're controlling. If you don't increase it, you're pretty close to him, because the widescreen rendering basically crops off the top and the bottom.

Slightly. I don't know if I'll be able to fix that. But if you just patch the resolution in the save file, the entire image is stretched, so I already made major progress. I think I can now finally patch that projection matrix permanently. XXL 2 was harder to patch than XXL 1.

It's a common problem with games when you try to make a wide screen mod that the UI gets stretched

I've actually patched the cameras field of view for XXL 2, instead of moving it further behind the character like in XXL 1. Unfortunately, this means that some objects on side side tend to disappear when they should usually be out of view, like the widescreen hacking in Dolphin.
