In the remaster files it's called "Rome Search", so it might have been intended for Rome. Though since it's actually used in Normandy/Greece we now seem to associate the music with lakes :Obelul: I'm not even sure where the title "Peaceful Lakes" comes from, it might have been made up.

Yes, I don't believe there are official song titles for the music tracks of XXL1/2. The closest we got is names from the Romaster - "Rome hard fight"...

The plan is to use the "Peaceful Lakes" / "Rome Search" track for the start of the level and once Asterix lands at the end of the sector, after taking the telepher, the music switches to "Deep Waters"

Possible, probably LaForest received some concept art or images of the level, and got told if it is either music for a fight or ambient and then he made the music to fit it. Then he named the music "Rome search", "Egypt medium fight"...
