Oh yea, this...
I got to play a little bit of this one too. I was younger, so of course, it didn't bother me at all to do these dumb repetitive actions
The DS was shafted for Asterix Games
Meanwhile VD Dev put all their soul in an undeniably superior **GBA** port of XXL1.
it's more 3D than XXL2/OG DS claim to be.
XXL1 on GBA looks like Doom in a way
But it plays out just like the home console/PC versions.
XXL2 on DS is 2.5D, in the way that it uses 3D graphics but you can only move in a 2D plain. As a child I played a couple other games like that: The Cat in the Hat and some game about Peter Pan
Yea I also had the XXL GBA game
Most I could reach was the beginning of the 4th world where you had to carry a torch across long stretches of water. I just wasn't good enough for it, but at the same time, the platform distance gauging was absolutely awful
just wait until you get to Egypt and need to not only carry a torch, but jump over lava gaps while perfectly timing your jumps under falling rocks that instakill you. That's where I stopped on real hardware. I only finished later with savestates lol
Yeah, difficulty was poorly tested unfortunately
an extremely impressive game pulled back by its difficulty.
Which makes sense, when the dream team is made of a programmer and a graphic designer. Even music had to be outsourced and it's really underwhelming to what the GBA can do. ( have you listened to the perfect port of one of Laforest's unused tracks into the prototype of XXL GBA? )
I haven't listened to anything, I didn't even know a prototype was floating in the wind like that
I can't undestand your idea, heso
I can't even get any higher then magic spot
there are no sliding collision or maybe I didn't find it
@balneor Everyone need to submit their run to the site, or just one person can do that ?
Cause i see that 2 people submitted same game (kao 2)
