#editor

hesopesomeso
Even in the main editor window?
hesopesomeso
If it runs fine, then it must be something on my side, wine not playing nice :PepeHands:
adrientd
In the editor itself, I was on Level 8 of XXL2 (the first boss) and it is at 13% which tbf is quite bad when the boss is quite a small level and it's already using half of a CPU core time
adrientd
if I hide scene nodes it gets to 9%
hesopesomeso
Okay that's much better than 100%! 13% is half of a CPU core time? :PogelixWeird:
hesopesomeso
I assume the vsync works fine since you've said so and tested it, but maybe the editor can't get the full 240+ needed for me? Maybe some wine performance issues...?
adrientd
And well 240 FPS is 4 times the 60 Hz of my old laptop screen :Obelul: So that's definitely going the make the CPU more busy
hesopesomeso
Yeah, but it shouldn't eat up all the resources! It works with wine, so that's all I've wanted really! :Obelul: Performance troubles don't matter as much. Thanks!
adrientd
Maybe there's way to optimize the editor to use less CPU usage, but not top priority. We could change such that the editor only renders when input is given, but then we lose animations like rotating bonuses.
schmeling65
Outsource the rendering to gpu?
hesopesomeso
Obviously he's doing that (SDL is)
schmeling65
is he? well then
pegperegogaucho
Outsource rendering to India, Sar! 🇮🇳
pegperegogaucho
When I load CC into the XXL-Editor, and only display scene nodes with visible flag, it will take up 25% CPU, so it fully uses one core to just show models :Pauselix:
pegperegogaucho
If I enable the squad drawing, it will become a slideshow
pegperegogaucho
There should be some more optimization, because if the app consumes too much resources for barely anything, people might not want to use it :Obelul: I remember I opened another level editor for a game some time ago, written in python with some weird 3D library, and it would take up all of my CPU for nothing at all.
pegperegogaucho
Electricity isn't free, so a program should respect the user's resources
pegperegogaucho
Did you guys know, a solar panel produces as much energy in a day, as there is in a chicken nugget?
hesopesomeso
What's up with the CPU time misrepresentations :KEKW: it's hilarious
